restfulie does not treat all first level collection in the same way

An atom feed answers to [] as an array would, but an xml and json unmarshalled representation does not. What to do in those cases? Both in xml and json, because of the lack of media type definition, one is unaware wether its a collection or single element. Should we deal with all items as both items and arrays?

Giving up this attempt. A client is bound to media type + relation names. We can not avoid requiring clients to check media type and its structure according to its data.
